Respecting Individual Sovereignty

Every person has a free will to self-govern. We may not agree with the choices people make, but we can respect their individual sovereignty, their right to control their own lives by their own definition of a meaningful life. To attempt to control another is to not respect their God-given individual sovereignty. We must remember this with patients; we don’t control them, and they don’t control us.

Respecting individual sovereignty is one way to have genuine respect for a person whose attitude or behavior is against your convictions or bothersome to you. Conversely, your inner circle of close people should only include those who respect your responsibility to live by your own priorities and convictions.
